The Portimao unit of the Centro Hospitalar serves the western Algarve, providing emergency, surgical, maternity, and outpatient services. Located on the northern side of Portimao, it complements the Faro hospital by reducing the need for western Algarve residents to travel the length of the region for hospital care. The facility handles significant seasonal demand from the tourist populations of Lagos, Albufeira, and surrounding resorts.
