Centro Hospitalar Universitario do Algarve - Faro
Hospital, Algarve News
The Faro unit of the Centro Hospitalar Universitario do Algarve (CHUA) is the main hospital serving the central and eastern Algarve. Located on the northern edge of Faro, it provides accident and emergency, maternity, surgical, and specialist outpatient services. The hospital serves a resident population of approximately 250,000, which more than doubles during summer. Waiting times for non-emergency specialist appointments can be lengthy, and the hospital has faced chronic staffing pressures. Despite its challenges, it remains the primary public healthcare facility for the region and has an affiliation with the University of the Algarve for medical training.
