Mercado Municipal de Olhao

Market, Algarve News

Olhao's waterfront market comprises two large red-brick buildings on the Ria Formosa waterfront: one dedicated to fish and seafood, the other to fruit, vegetables, and general produce. The fish hall is a spectacle, with fishmongers displaying the morning's catch, fresh from the Algarve's largest fishing fleet. Prices are competitive, and the variety reflects the richness of the local waters. The produce hall sells Algarve oranges, figs, almonds, and seasonal vegetables alongside olives, cheeses, and cured meats. Saturday morning is the busiest trading day. The market buildings also house a few simple cafes where you can eat overlooking the lagoon.
