Praia da Marinha, between Carvoeiro and Benagil, is consistently rated among the finest beaches in Europe. The beach sits at the base of golden limestone cliffs, accessed by a long stairway from the car park above. The water is clear and sheltered, and the surrounding cliff formations, arches, and sea stacks make it one of the most scenic spots on the Algarve coast. The Sete Vales Suspensos (Seven Hanging Valleys) coastal trail passes along the clifftop above. The beach has seasonal lifeguard cover and a small bar in summer. It is popular and can be crowded in July and August.
