Tavira Castle and Camera Obscura
Museum, Algarve News
The castle walls at Tavira, of Moorish origin, enclose a garden with excellent views across the town's rooftops, the Roman bridge, and the Gilao river. Within the castle grounds, a camera obscura provides a live 360-degree projected image of the town, operated by a guide who explains the landmarks visible in the projection. The castle is one of the focal points of a town that contains more churches (over 30) than any other settlement of its size in the Algarve. The surrounding streets of the old town are among the most pleasant in the region for walking. Entry to the castle garden is free; the camera obscura has a small charge.
