Avenida Sa Carneiro, Faro

Street guide, Algarve News

Avenida Sa Carneiro is one of the main north-south arterial roads in Faro, connecting the EN125 and the commercial northern edge of the city to the centre. The avenue carries heavy traffic and is lined with banks, professional offices, shops, and apartment buildings. It serves as a functional commercial corridor rather than a scenic route. Several bus routes use the avenue, and it connects to the roads leading to the hospital and Forum Algarve shopping centre. The street is named after Francisco Sa Carneiro, Portugal's prime minister who died in a plane crash in 1980.
