Rua 25 de Abril, Lagos
Street guide, Algarve News
Rua 25 de Abril is the main pedestrianised shopping street in Lagos old town, running from Praca Gil Eanes towards the Praca da Republica and the waterfront. Named after the date of the 1974 Carnation Revolution, the street is lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants housed in traditional buildings. It serves as the commercial spine of the old town and is busy throughout the year, though particularly so in summer when the tourist population peaks. Side streets lead off to smaller squares and the covered market. The street retains its historic character despite the commercial activity, with azulejo-fronted buildings and wrought-iron balconies above the shopfronts.
