Rua do Comercio is the principal commercial street in Loule's town centre, running through the heart of the old town near the market hall and the castle remains. The street is narrow and partly pedestrianised, lined with traditional shops, hardware stores, cafes, and local businesses that serve the town's resident population rather than tourists. Loule's commercial centre has retained a working Portuguese character that many coastal towns have lost, and Rua do Comercio is at the centre of this daily life. On Saturday mornings, when the market is in full swing, the surrounding streets are packed with shoppers and the atmosphere is at its liveliest.
