EN2 Start Point, Faro
Street guide, Algarve News
The EN2 (Estrada Nacional 2) begins at the Jardim Manuel Bivar in central Faro and runs 738 kilometres north to Chaves on the Spanish border, making it the longest national road in Portugal and sometimes called the Portuguese Route 66. The southern starting point in Faro is marked by a small monument on the waterfront garden. The route has become a popular touring road for motorcyclists and classic car enthusiasts, passing through the Algarve interior, the Alentejo plains, and the mountains of northern Portugal. The road's increasing popularity has generated tourism revenue for small towns along its route and has given Faro's waterfront an additional point of interest.
