Rua 5 de Outubro, Faro
Street guide, Algarve News
Rua 5 de Outubro is one of the main commercial streets in central Faro, running parallel to Rua de Santo Antonio. Named after the date of the Portuguese Republic's proclamation in 1910, the street contains a mix of retail shops, banks, and professional offices. It is less pedestrian-focused than Rua de Santo Antonio but still an important part of the city centre's commercial fabric. The street connects the baixa to the areas north of the centre and carries some vehicle traffic. Local businesses predominate, and the street has a workaday character that reflects Faro's role as a regional service centre rather than a tourist resort.
